scope:

This NES, in conjunction with the documents referred to herein, specifies the requirements for the design and choice of components for feed water steam and drain systems in Ships fitted with Auxiliary Boilers.

Each system comprises the equipment, valves and pipework within the boundaries defined as follows: 

The feed system extends from the connection on the feed tank which accepts the drains from the drain cooler to the feed pump suction on the auxiliary boiler, and includes the supply of feed water to auxiliary services in addition to the supply of water to the boilers. 

The steam system extends from the steam outlet connection of the auxiliary boiler to the steam inlet connections of the various components being served. 

The drain system extends from the drain outlet connections of the various components served by the steam system to the inlet connection on the feed tank.
