The FAA intends to obtain the latest state-of-the-art radio link equipment to form a nationwide FAA communications network. All components within the system shall be production off-the-shelf equipment that are in use at customer locations and in a nontest environment, thereby demonstrating proven reliability and maintainability characteristics (3.7). The equipment shall also conform to the latest industry standards (2). Routine Maintenance shall not be required, and all system restoration shall be at the card or chassis level. Repair of cards or chassis shall be performed by the contractor.
