This NES is intended to give assistance with the selection of Hand Held Crimping Tool(s) from a preferred range already codified for use within MOD, thus avoiding wasteful proliferation. Although it supplies some basic details of tool operation and gauging procedures it is not intended as an instructional handbook on crimping techniques.

Several of the codified items listed in this NES are at variance with the general policy of using components approved to a BS or BS CECC standard. This is unavoidable due to the maintenance requirements of existing equipments.
