ATTENUATORS, FIXED GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR

scope:
This specification covers the general requirements for radio and microwave frequency fixed attenuators (see 6.1).
Attenuators shall be of the following classes, as specified (see table I and 6.2):
Class I - For use as the primary standard.
Class II - For use as a secondary standard, and in laboratory and precision test equipment.
A. With lumped-constant or distributed shunt and series elements.
B. With lossy-line pads.
Class III - For use in general field equipment.
Class IV - For use in equipment in which precision and stability are secondary considerations. Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to: Commander, Naval Electronic Systems Command, ATTN: ELEX 8111, Department of the Navy, Washington, D.C. 20360 by using the self-addressed Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.
The military part number shall consist of the letter "M" followed by the basic number of the specification sheet, an assigned dash (see 3.1), and the letter N or S; where N indicates a nonscreened item and S indicates a screened item. Part numbers without a N or S shall be considered nonscreened items.
