scope:

This Standard specifies the requirements for steel wire reinforced, thin walled synthetic rubber hose and hose assemblies fitted with end fittings used primarily in hydraulic systems but may be used in pneumatic applications operating at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +100°C. These hoses shall be of the same construction as DEF STAN 47-2, except having a cover designed to assemble with fittings which do not require removal of the cover or a portion thereof. This hose is not intended to be used where fire resistance is required.

It also specifies the conditions for a company applying to be registered as a supplier of hoses, end fittings and assemblies to this Standard and a company applying to be registered as an assembler of certified hose and fittings.

Where hydraulic hoses of other construction or performance are required then the general provisions of this document shall apply.
