The standard specifies dimensions of, and requirements for, the ten most commonly used forms of steel and carbide burs. It is envisaged to extend the scope of this European Standard to cover other forms of burs. Other characteristics of burheads, for example spiralled blades, cross-cuts are not covered by this European Standard. These will be dealt with in a future European Standard.
