This specification relates to a range of multi contact, circular, barrier (not panel) sealed, plugs and sockets with threaded coupling and bonded-in solder type contacts. Patter-n 121 plugs and sockets have aluminum shells with resilient bonded inserts suitable for temperature severity T4 (-55/+100°C).

The items specified herein can be used as direct replacements for similar plugs and sockets to U.S. specification MIL-C-5015D. Pattern 121 plugs and sockets are held within tighter tolerance control to increase sealing and reliability. Standardization of the rear end has been made between styles. Coupling nuts are captive but are removable from the front for replacement purposes. This specification gives details of dimensions, ratings, and test values peculiar to the range of standard items defined. It is primarily intended for those concerned with components for use in Service equipment.
