This Defence Standard applies to lamps, electric, for use by the Ministry of Defence.

The types of lamps listed are Incandescent, Fluorescent, Discharge (as distinct from fluorescent) and Neon (glow), covering a multitude of purposes.

Incandescent lamps cover both vacuum and gas filled types and are listed in ascending voltage order.

Fluorescent Mercury lamps are listed in ascending order of wattage.

Discharge lamps containing Mercury, Sodium Xenon and Neon. Most are listedĀ inĀ asceding order of lamp voltage, not supply voltage.

Neon ( low). Most lamps are listed in ascending order of striking voltage, not supply voltage.
