scope:

This Defence Standard specifies the Tri-Service requirements for the refurbishment of metal ammunition containers to a standard sufficient to ensure that the renovated container performs to its original capabilities for the protection of packaged equipment.

The procedures detailed are not intended to achieve an "as new" condition, but to provide a re-conditioned container which is safe and suitable both for Service use and for issue on embodiment loan to contractors who are packaging stores and equipment on behalf of MOD.

This Defence Standard is not applicable to Special to Contents Containers (STC) or Unit Load Containers (ULC).
