MODUK - DEF STAN 68-58

Dyestuffs for Explosives Applications

active, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 4 April 1997
Status: active
Page Count: 54
scope:

This Defence Standard specifies a group of dyestuffs used principally in pyrotechnic and explosive compositions to produce coloured smoke. In some instances the dyes are also used for distinguishing purposes in high explosive substitutes and in certain propellants, and internal security stores.

The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, its compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established. Design Authorities requiring advice on particular applications should contact the responsible technical or supervising authority named in the Invitation to Tender or Contract.

Attention is drawn to Defence Standard 13-102, Testing of Materials which are Required to be Compatible with Explosives.
