Scope and object

This part of IEC 34 applies to d.c. machines of 1 kW rated output power and above on conventional and rectifier-fed supplies except those covered by other IEC standards, for example IEC 349.

The object of this standard is to establish methods for determining characteristic quantities for conventional and rectifier-fed d.c. machines.

It is not intended that this standard should be interpreted as requiring the carrying out of any or all of the tests described therein on any given machine. The particular tests to be carried out should be subject to a special agreement between manufacturer and purchaser.
