Use/Relationship: A Request for Waiver is used during or after manufacture to obtain authorization to deliver nonconforming items to the Government, which do not comply with the applicable technical requirements. For the unit(s) affected, the different configuration will normally be permanent.

A Request for Waiver enables the Government to determine the impact on performance, operational readiness, logistics support or other affected areas.

This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content and preparation instructions for the data product resulting from the work task specified in the contract.
