Part 3 of this NES describes the general design of asacrificial Anode (or Self-energized) system of cathodic protection.

This type of system can be used to protect ships' underwater hull plating, sea water system inlets and outlets, bilges, tanks etc.

Each 'system' will need to be individually designed to suit aparticular requirement depending on the area of metal to be protected, the type of metal, the length of time for protection, and the electrolyte or environment in which structure is operating.
