This INTERIM DEF STAN 59 - 69 series covers the system of selection, specifications, qualification approval, inspection, packaging, and release of variable resistors for Ministry of Defence use.

This PART implements BS 9000 and BS 91JO in prescribing the general requirements applicable to all the other PARTS of the series. 

TABLE I of each SECTION of a PART lists the standard range of items which are recommended for general use.

The TABLES include brief information on ratings and characteristics. For complete information, reference must be made to the relevant BS Detail Specification.

For all requirements, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT EQUIPMENT DESIGNERS WORK TO THE DIMENSIONS STATED IN THE BS DETAIL SPECIFICATION AND NOT TO THOSE OF INDIVIDUAL SPECIMENS.
