This Standard specifies
(a) the chassis and body requirements, and
(b) the required safety equipment for school buses.
This Standard applies to Types A1, A2, B, C, and D school buses.
This Standard does not cover after-market and retrofit installations. These installations are covered by federal and provincial regulations, and it is the responsibility of the appropriate jurisdiction to inspect and approve these installations.
