scope:
This International Standard establishes general principles regarding the process used in the construction and
quality assessment of butt fusion joints incorporating PE80 and PE100 pipes (ISO4437) and (ISO4427) and
fittings (ISO8085-2) with equipment which complies with ISO12176-1 and installed to ISO10839 Code of
Practice. Specifically, this standard details a number of proven butt fusion jointing procedures for pipes and
fittings with wall thickness up to 70mm inclusive. The standard takes into consideration the materials and
components used, the fusion jointing procedure and equipment and the quality assessment of the completed
joint.
Note -- For pipes with wall thickness' greater than 70 mm, butt fusion jointing should be undertaken in consultation with
pipe or fitting and equipment manufacturers.
