scope:
PURPOSE. This Directive:
Supersedes reference (a) under the authority of reference (b).
Defines a Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Deployment Process Owner.
Designates the Commander in Chief, United States Joint Forces Command, as the DoD Joint Deployment Process Owner.
Establishes policies and assigns responsibilities for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the joint deployment and redeployment processes.
Assigns the Joint Deployment Process Owner these Executive Agent responsibilities and authorities to:
Ensure proper coordination among the DoD Components during deployment and redeployment process improvement initiatives.
Provide recommendations to the Secretary of Defense, through the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, regarding deployment and redeployment process improvements, including the manner and timing of these improvements.
Issue Directives to other DoD Components and take action on behalf of the Secretary of Defense concerning deployment and redeployment process improvement initiatives, as specifically authorized by the Secretary of Defense through the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
APPLICABILITY. This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense (hereafter collectively referred to as "the DoD Components").
