scope:
This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for three types of cellulose acetate sheet for use with propellant explosives. Types OXA and OXB are for tube winding and are available in thicknesses up to and including 0.5 mm. Types OXA and OXB are distinguished by the presence of carbamite in the OXB material. Type X is for closure discs and is available as 2.5 mm thick sheet.
The designation 'Type OX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Energetic Materials and Terminal Effects Department, Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Seven oaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
