scope:
This specification covers the design of Dead Reckoning Analyzer-Indicator (DRAI) for use in Naval ships. (DRAI will imply MK9 or later issue equipment when referred to in this specification.)
This specification covers two types of DRAI, as specified (see 6.2), each of which shall be identical in all respects except for the interface requirements and displays specified in 1.2.1 through 1.2.3.
Both type I and type II DRAI shall accept heading and speed information in the following form:
OWN SHIP'S HEADING - 360 degrees per revolution and 10 degrees per revolution (1X and 36X), 115 volt, 400 Hz synchro information. OWN SHIP'S SPEED - 100 knots per revolution and 10 knots per revolution (1X and 10X), 115 volt, 400 Hz synchro information.
Each type of DRAI shall compute and display the following information:
Type I Type II Own ship's heading. Own ship's heading. Own ship's speed (total). Own ship's speed (total). Own ship's distance traveled (total). Own ship's speed (N-S). Own ship's distance traveled (N-S). Own ship's speed (E-W). Own ship's distance traveled (E-W). Latitude. Longitude.
Each type of DRAI shall compute and transmit the following information:
Type I Type II Own ship's distance traveled (N-S)1/. Own ship's distance traveled (N-S)1/. Own ship's distance traveled (E-W)1/. Own ship's distance traveled (E-W)1/. 115 volt direct current (d.c.) step 115 volt d.c step by step signal, 750 by step signal 750 turns per mile. turns per mile. Own ship's speed (N-S) 100 knots per revolution and 10 knots per revolution (1X and 10X), 115 volt, 400 Hz synchro signal. Own ship's speed (E-W) 100 knots per revolution and 10 knots per revolution (1X and 10X), 115 volt, 400 Hz synchro information. Latitude 360 degrees per revolution and 10 degrees per revolution (1X and 36X), 115 volt, 400 Hz synchro signal. Longitude 360 degrees per revolution and 10 degrees per revolution (1X and 36X), 115 volt, 400 Hz.
