This specification covers vertical, pit type, heat treating furnaces of the gas fired, forced convection design.

The furnaces shall be of the following classes as specified (see 6.2.1).

Class 1 - 350 - 1250° F Operating Temperature Class 2 - 600 - 1750° F Operating Temperature

The size of the furnace work chamber shall be as specified (see 6.2.1), and should be selected from the sizes listed in Table I. The dimensions specified shall be the minimum inside effective working dimensions of the heating chamber in which performance requirements and temperature uniformity specified herein shall be maintained.
