scope:
This Part of the Defence Standard establishes single sampling plans and procedures for inspection by variables of the inherent ballistic dispersion of projectiles, when disturbances in azimuth and elevation are independent, or approximately so.
NOTE 1 - When specified by the Authority, this Defence Standard shall be referenced in a product or process specification, contract, inspection instructions or other documents, and the provisions set forth therein shall govern. The "Authority" shall be designated in one of the above documents.
NOTE 2 - These plans are not suitable for acceptance inspection for accuracy, for they take no account of the deviation of the sample mean point of impact from the point of aim.
The object of the methods laid down in this Defence Standard is to ensure that lots of an acceptable quality have a high probability of acceptance and that lots of an inferior quality have as low a probability of acceptance as possible.
The fraction of nonconforming projectiles in a lot is used to define the quality of the lot and reflects the capability of the production process that generated it.
