This specification cove portable, medium-range, 2km through 7km, electro-optical distance and angle measuring equipment. Distances are measured using diode-emitted infrared modulated light waves. Angles are determined by electronic measurement. The AISI measuring unit will be solid-state construction and complete with accessories for unsupported operation.

The AISI shall be of the following types, as specified:

Type I - One Tenth (00.1") second AISI with EDM modular unit of 7 kilometer capability.

Type II - One Tenth (00.1") second AISI with EDM modular unit of 2 kilometer capability.

Class A - With winterization kit.

Class B - Without winterization kit.

intended Use:

The AISI shall be used to determine distances and directions for : field artillery weapons systems, establishing geodetic survey control, and construction surveys.
