This specification(Footnote 2) covers seamless tube and ferrule stock of copper and various copper alloys up to 3⅛ in., inclusive, in diameter, for use in surface condensers, evaporators, and heat exchangers. Tubes for this application are normally made from the following coppers or copper alloys:(Footnote 3)

NOTE 1 - A complete metric companion to Specification B 111 has been developed - B 111M; therefore, no metric equivalents are presented in this specification.

NOTE 2 - Warning - Mercury is a definite health hazard in use and disposal. (See 12.1.)

Footnote 3 - The UNS system for copper alloys (see Practice E 527) is a simple expansion of the former standard designation system accomplished by the addition of a prefix "C" and a suffix "00". The suffix can be used to accomodate composition variations of the base alloy.
