This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for a special purpose vulcanized natural rubber with low electrical resistivity. The material is for the production of moulded parts used in certain ammunition items where the electrical resistance of the charge path via the rubber part is an important consideration in respect of static hazards.

The designation "Type QX" indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Director, Defence Research Agency (Military Division), Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent TN14 7BP.

Attention is drawn to Defence Standard 13-102, Testing of Materials which are Required to be Compatible with Explosives.
