Introduction

CSA's certification directories are a valuable resource for companies that manufacture or buy certified products and components.

This directory lists all the wire and cable equipment that was certified by CSA as of February 1997. It replaces all earlier editions of the directory.

Please note that, because a product's certification status can change at any time, the listings in this directory may not be current when you read them.

How to Use this Directory

The products and services in this directory are organized into broad classifications that are arranged alphabetically. Within each classification, the individual listings appear in alphabetical order by company name.

Each classification begins with a description of the type of products or services covered, and the Standards and other requirements used for certification. Applicable marking information and other details are also included.

The following indexes can help you find the information you need:

• The classification index is an index of classification titles and corresponding CSA class numbers for the products listed in this directory.

• The company name Index is an index of the customers having a listing in this directory This index is arranged in alphabetical order by company name and includes the customer's CSA file number.

• The file number index is an index of the CSA file numbers of customers having a listing In this directory. This index is arranged in numerical order and includes the customer's name. The file number may appear on certified products preceded by "LR^/LL", or "LM".

• The trademark and tradename index is an index of CSA recognized trademarks and tradenames used on CSA certified products by CSA customers, in lieu of company name and/or file number identification. This index is arranged in alphabetical order.

About CSA Standards

CSA is Canada's largest Standards-writing, testing, and certification organization.

More than 7000 volunteer members from across Canada serve on the committees that write, review, and revise the Standards published by CSA. Committee members include representatives from federal, provincial, and municipal governments; from research organizations, labour unions, and consumer groups; and from manufacturers, consultants, professional associations, and trade organizations.

Today there are over 1 300 CSA Standards, reflecting a national consensus of producers, users, and regulatory authorities. CSA Standards cover nearly thirty-five major areas, such as structural design, building materials, the Canadian Electrical Code, computers, office machines, environmental protection, health care, fire safety, and sports and recreational equipment.

Most CSA Standards provide detailed procedures for testing and inspection to certify that a product or service conforms to the Standard.

Obtaining Product Certification

Manufacturers and suppliers have their products or services certified to CSA Standards for a variety of reasons: to demonstrate product quality, to enhance market acceptability, and to improve quality and safety control procedures in manufacturing and construction.

CSA conducts certification testing at its test laboratories in Etobicoke (Toronto), and its regional offices across Canada, in Richmond (Vancouver), Edmonton, and Pointe-Claire (Montreal).

The certification process involves the following steps:

1. A manufacturer or distributor applies to CSA for certification.

2. Representative samples of the product are examined and tested, according to the applicable Standards.

3. A detailed certification report is prepared and kept on file at CSA.

4. If the product meets the required Standards, it is licensed to carry the CSA Mark and entitled to be listed in a CSA directory.

5. Manufacturing sites are inspected periodically to ensure ongoing compliance.

Using the CSA Mark

The CSA Mark is your assurance that a product meets all applicable safety Standards. Our mark appears on over one billion products sold each year. The following variations are recognized and accepted throughout Canada and the US, at federal, provincial, state, and municipal levels.

This directory lists only products that have been certified for the Canadian market. Products and components that are certified by CSA to US Standards are listed in a separate directory.

CSA certification is provided through reexamination or label service, depending on the product classification.

Reexamination Service entitles licensed manufacturers to reproduce the CSA Mark on their certified products. The CSA Mark appears on or near the product nameplate, in a manner acceptable to CSA.

Label Service entitles licensed manufacturers to affix a CSA label, featuring the CSA Mark, on their certified products.

Label Licensing allows Label Service customers to use their own marking in lieu of labels purchased from CSA.

Note: Products that carry the CSA Mark must also identify the client, the manufacturer, or (where applicable) the listee. The identification is usually the full company name or the CSA file number. However, the company tradename, trademark, or other distinctive symbols may be used as an alternative when approved by CSA. Additional cautionary statements appear on certified products in English and French when required by the applicable Standards.
