This specification covers one type of equipment designated as Test Set, Radio, AN/ARM-156 intended for intermediate and depot levels of use in support of AN/ARN-21, AN/ARN-52, AN/ARN-65, AN/ARN-84, AN/ARN-84(V), AN/ARN-86, AN/ARN-91, AN/ARN-103, AN/ARN-105, AN/ARN-113, AN/ASQ-19, AN/ASQ-56, AN/ASQ-57, AN/ASQ-58, AN/ASQ-88, TACAN Stationkeeping, TACAN Data Link, Inverse TACAN or equivalent airborne TACAN systems. See paragraph 3.5.2.4.1.2.4.

The Test Set, Radio, AN/ARM-156 shall be of one type, class and shall consist of the following major components:
