REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE
Under the authority vested in the Secretary of Defense by section 113 of Reference (a) and consistent with Reference (b), this Directive:
Changes the name of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Task Force to the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO).
Reissues Reference (c) to establish the JIEDDO as a joint entity and jointly manned activity of the Department of Defense (DoD) with the mission, responsibilities, functions, relationships, and authorities as prescribed herein.
Establishes a JIEDD Senior Resource Steering Group (SRSG), a JIEDD Integrated Process Team (JIPT), a JIEDD Systems Integration Board (JSIB), a JIEDD Resource and Acquisition Board (JRAB), a JIEDD Lab Board (JLB), and a JIEDD Test Board (JTB), as defined in Enclosure 2 and consistent with Reference (d) and DoD Directive 5105.4 (Reference (e)).
Designates the Secretary of the Army as the DoD Executive Agent (EA) for the JIEDDO, in accordance with DoD Directive 5101.1 (Reference (f)), to provide primary administrative support as defined in Enclosure 3.
APPLICABILITY
This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components"). The term "Military Services," as used herein, refers to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Marine Corps.
