This NES specifies the installations required in surface ships for the control of access to compartments and furniture within those spaces. It covers the locking arrangements and key/card management together with the distribution system needed within the vessel.
This NES does not define:
Submarine compartment and furniture access.
The number of compartments, quantity and type of furniture to be fitted in any space within the vessel.
The physical security arrangements for the guarding of protectively marked data, documents or equipment.
