1.1 Scope. It is the purpose of this document to establish the requirements for testing and evaluating the pressure containingperformance of API 6A end connections when exposed to a standard fire representing conditions in an offshore platform well bay. The performance requirements of this document are intended to establish standard limits of acceptability regardless of size or pressure rating. This document is not intended to represent conditions which may be encountered in a fire on a land location.

The burn period has been established on the basis that it represents the maximum time required to extinguish most fires. Fires of greater duration are considered to be of a major magnitude with consequences greater than those anticipated in this test.
