This CWA is not a formal specification having any conformance requirements. It provides a survey of different areas where directories can be used within e-commerce. This CWA does not provide final technical solutions to different areas where directories can be employed. It provides a survey on and an analysis of the different areas; it identifies techniques already available and it identifies areas for further standardisation. This CWA assusmes basic knowledge of directory technology. Especially it assumes knowledge of basix X.500 concept. However, executive summary and recommendations can be read without such knowledge. It is not within the scope of the CWA to provide tutorial material on directories. 2.1 points to some directory tutorial material.
