This specification sets forth the general requirements for the design and manufacture of electronic components and equipment for space vehicles. The detailed performance and individual test requirements shall be as specified in the equipment specification or the contract. Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions), and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to:

Use the self-addressed Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or comment by letter.

The requirements covered by this specification are applicable to electronic components and equipment to be used on space vehicles (see 6.1). This specification may also be used as a reference document to specify general requirements for electronic components to be used on launch vehicles, intercontinental ballistic missiles, or other vehicles. For those applications the term "space vehicle" is to be interpreted as the applicable vehicle.
