This ETS defines the characteristics of Programme Delivery Control (PDC) which is intended to facilitate home recording of broadcast television programmes. Data signals are added to the PAL or SECAM television signals in teletext or dedicated data line 16. These data signals are interpreted at reception by specially equipped PDC video recorders to permit the broadcaster to control the precise start and stop times of user pre-selected recordings.
