This specification establishes the performance, design, and test requirements for Standby Indicated Airspeed Indicators Types I, II, and, III. The airspeed indicators develop indicated airspeed as a function of the difference between pitot and static pressures. The airspeed is to be displayed on an integrally lighted, nominal 2-inch dial covering the airspeed range as applicable to indicator type.

The types of airspeed indicators covered by this specification are as follows:

Range Case Dial Type Airspeed Lighting Shape Display a. I 30-650 Knots White (IPL) Square 1 pointer b. II 60-850 Knots White (IPL) Round 1 pointer c. III 20-600 Knots White (IPL) Square 2 pointer

intended Use:

The airspeed indicators are intended for standby or emergency use in high performance aircraft to indicate airspeed. Type III indicators are intended for use primarily in V/STOL type aircraft.
