DS 5129-2-1

Installations for signalling and communication - Part 2-1: Cable ducts in buildings for infrastructure cables for IT&T purposes

inactive, Most Current
Organization: DS
Publication Date: 4 May 2001
Status: inactive
Page Count: 21
ICS Code (Electricity supply systems): 91.140.50
scope:

This standard specifies the cable ducts to the position of the cable termination within each individual premise or house in a legal sense, however, this DS information does not specify the cable ducts for internal networks within the individual premise or house. Consequently, annex A gives proposals for this matter. The contractor of new buildings must prepare and establish the possibility for cable ducts for IT&T purposes. This concerns residential properties, business premises and institutional premises, where IT&T is expected to be installed. There may be the same need in case of a renovation of existing buildings. The guidelines in this standard are limited to apply to cable ducts for infrastructure for IT&T purposes. The size of the cable ducts must be considered to establish different types of IT&T cabling systems, e.g. systems with coaxial cables, cables with twisted pair and/or fiber optic. This standard does not specify types of cables, main distributing frames, terminal blocks, connectors, electronic equipment or other components, which can be mounted in the cable ducts.
