The hydraulic flow regulator valves covered by this specification are intended for use in aircraft hydraulic systems as specified in MIL-H-5440 to control the rate of flow by inducing a precise degree of pressure drop where reverse flow in excess of regulated flow is not anticipated, or in applications where high pressure drops during reverse flow is not objectionable.

Caution should be observed in using hydraulic flow regulators to control hydraulic motors in view of the surging condition that might occur.

Flow regulators meeting the requirements of this specification are for use in hydraulic systems containing only hydraulic oil conforming to MIL-H-5606 and not qualified for use with other types of fluid, unless approved by the procuring activity.
