The standard specifies a method for determining the tension set characteristics of vulcanized rubbers. The test is intended to measure the ability of rubbers of hardness within the range of 30 to 94 IRHD to retain their elastic properties after extension at the standard laboratory temperature to a specified strain which is maintained for a specified time at the same or at a specified higher temperature and then released at laboratory temperature.
