Zinc-molybdate primer covered by this specification is intended for use as a corrosion inhibiting primer on metal surfaces, particularly in marine service. It may be applied by brush or spray, and is suitable as an after-blast or after-pickling; primer for plating, as an undercoat for alkyd enamels, and for equipment where a quick-drying primer is not required. The basic formulation provides a primer of yellow color. This primer is formulated to comply with air pollution regulations which allow a VOC of 340 grams per liter (2.8 pounds per gallon). The product contains 340 grams per liter, as delivered, and must not be thinned.
