scope:

(a) This Appendix contains rules for the material, design, fabrication, examination, testing, marking, stamping, and preparation of reports by the Certificate Holder for Class SC storage containments for spent nuclear fuel and high level radioactive waste and materials.

(b) The rules of this Appendix cover the strength and containment integrity of items the failure of which would violate the containment boundary. The rules cover load stresses but do not cover deterioration which may occur in service as a result of corrosion, radiation effects, or instability of containment materials. WA-1130 further limits the rules of this Appendix.
