The INTERIM DEF STAN 59-75 series covers the system of selection, specification, qualification approval, inspection, packaging, and the release of switches for Ministry of Defence use.

This PART implements BS 9000 and the associated British Standard Specifications for switches of assessed quality in prescribing the general requirements applicable to all other PARTS of the series.

Table I of each SECTION lists the standard range of items which are recommended for general use.

The Tables include brief information on ratings and characteristics. For complete information, reference must be made to the relevant BS Detail Specification.

For all requirements, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT EQUIPMENT DESIGNERS WORK TO THE DIMENSIONS STATED IN THE BS DETAIL SPECIFICATION AND NOT TO THOSE OF INDIVIDUAL SPECIMENS.
