This method covers the determination of the dry density when the soil passing a 19.0mm test sieve (see Note (1)) is compacted in a specified manner, over a range of water contents, including that which gives the maximum dry density. In this test the compactive effort is greater than in Test 4.1.1 (NZ standard compaction).
