scope:

PURPOSE. Under the authority of reference (a), this Instruction:

Reissues reference (b).

Establishes the DoD Forensic Science Committee as a joint DoD committee under the provisions of reference (c) (hereafter referred to as "the Committee").

Assigns the Committee responsibilities for the review and resolution of forensic science issues of concern to the DoD forensic science community and its customers.

APPLICABILITY. This Instruction applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense (OIG DoD), the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as "the DoD Components").
