Introduction 

This leaflet describes briefly the Ministry of Defence (MOD)'s top structure for managing purchasing in the Procurement Executive (PE), the Principal Administrative Officers' (PAOs) areas and other parts of MOD and goes on to explain how the Defence Commercial Organisation (DCO) fits in to these arrangements. The leaflet also touches on the arrangements for the procurement of Works Services, local purchases of stores and services by MOD establishments and Service units, and the purchasing function in Defence Agencies.
