This specification covers ampere-hour meters used to record the energy that enters or leaves a submarine storage battery.

Ampere-hour meters shall be classified as follows:

Type I - Designed to operate from a 2500-ampere, 100-millivolt (mV) shunt.

Type II - Designed to operate from a 3000-ampere, 100-mV shunt.

Type III - Designed to operate from a 4000-ampere, 100-mV shunt.

Type IV - Designed to operate from a 5000-ampere, 100-mV shunt.

The meters covered by this specification are intended for use in measuring submarine storage battery energy.
