This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
The requirements for acquiring the product described herein shall consist of this specification sheet and the issue of MIL-DTL-15665 listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DoDISS) specified in the solicitation.
DASH NO: -1: Collar, Gold (See Note 3) -2: Collar, Black (See Note 3) -3: Cap, Garrison, Gold (See Note 4) -4: Cap, Garrison, Black (See Note 4)
MATERIAL:
-1, -3: Red Brass
-2, -4: Red Brass or Zinc Aluminum
FINISH:
-1, -3: Mirror-like Polished and shall match TIOH Metal Finish Chip Number 1.
-2, -4: Flat Black Enamel

THICKNESS (Minimum): 0.040 inch ± 0.005 inch (0.101 cm ± 0.012 cm)
NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to measurements taken from the Government furnished hub or die.
2. Forcers shall be used to bring up the design.
3. Dash Numbers 1 and 2 shall be made in pairs (one left hand and one right hand).
4. Dash Numbers 3 and 4 shall be the left hand insignia only.
5. Flat black enamel for Dash Numbers 2 and 4 shall conform to FED-STD-595, Color Chip Number 37038.
6. The attaching device shall be a screw post with nut. The screw post shall be ⅜ inch ± 1/32 inch (0.95 cm ± 0.08 cm) long, ⅛ inch (0.32 cm) in diameter and shall have a No. 5-40 UNC-2A thread. The thumb nut shall be 0.625 inch ± 0.010 inch (1.588 cm ± 0.025 cm) or 0.500 inch ± 0.010 inch (1.27 cm ± 0.025 cm) in diameter and shall have a No. 5-40 UNC-2B thread.
7. The screw post shall be soldered or electronically fused the insignia in the center of the globe as indicated.
8. The registering prong shall be ⅛ inch ± 1/64 inch (0.32 cm ± 0.04 cm) in length and 0.032 inch ± 0.002 inch (0.081 cm ± 0.005 cm) in diameter. The prong shall be fused or soldered on the vertical center line on the back of the eagle's breast.
9. Trimming on both sides of the eagle's head to be accomplished without altering or distorting the design detail.
