This standard establishes Department of Defense Standardization classification for all adopted rifles, (including survival weapons) carbines, shotguns, and submachine guns, and stock items thereof, in FSC Class 1005 for use by the military departments. Selection for all new applications of rifles, carbines, shotguns and submachine guns shall be made from this document.
