scope:
This Interim European Telecommunication Standard (I-ETS) applies to 5,8 GHz Shord Range Devices (SRDs) for use in Road Transport Traffic AND tELEMATICE (RTTT) whose protocol is defined in CEN TC 278 [2]:
- with an Radio Frequency (RF) output connection and specified antenna or with an integral antenna;
- for data transmission only;
- operating on radio frequencies in the 5 725 - 5 875 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) ban, with power levels up to 2 watts eirp as defined in the CEPT Recommendation T/R 22-04 [3].
It covers the minimum characteristics considered necessary in order to make the best use of the avaliable frequencies. It does not necessarily include all the characteristics which may be required by a user, not does it necessarily represent the optimum performance achievable.
This I-ETS is based upon CEPT Recommendation T/R 22-04 [3] and ERC decision ERC/DEC/(92)02 [4]. It is a specific standard covering various RTTT applications.
This I-ETS covers Road Side Units (fixed stations) and On Board Units (mobile stations) which covers both transceivers and transponders. For certain measurements the transponders shoud be measured together with the whole interrogating system.
This I-ETS includes specification for methods of measurement for equipment f
