Organization: ARINC
Publication Date: 30 April 1985
Status: active
Page Count: 57
scope:

Purpose of this Characteristic: This document sets forth the basic requirements for an Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) specifically designed for installation in commercial transport-type aircraft.

COMMENTARY: Equipment described by this document is intended to provide significant improvement over conventional gyros at modest cost. Design of this equipment places major emphasis on equipment simplicity and low cost rather than the ultimate performance associated with more complex systems and is expected to exploit the latest technology such as "strap down" and "solid state" construction. The outputs from the base line system are limited to magnetic heading, attitude, body rates and acceleration data. This is a relatively simple system as opposed to the more complex 704 IRS.
