scope:
PURPOSE. This Directive:
Establishes an overarching policy governing telework (also known as telecommuting) within the Department of Defense.
Assigns responsibilities for telework.
Establishes the supervisor's and/or commanders' authority to assign official duties (including training) that may be performed via telework.
Implements the provisions of reference (a) and is consistent with references (b), (c), (d), and (e).
APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE. This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense; the Military Departments; the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; the Combatant Commands; the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense; the Defense Agencies; the DoD Field Activities; and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as "the DoD Components").
