scope:

This specification covers requirements for power operated spur planetary and planetary geared, heavy duty, drum type winches for use on military combat and tactical transport vehicles. The winches are driven from the vehicle hydraulic system.

Winches will be of the following models, classes and capacities including the drawing numbers as specified in table I (see 6.2). intended Use:

The winch, mounted on applicable military vehicle, is intended for use in pulling and hoisting heavy loads during recovery operations.
