This specification covers the performance requirements, related quality assurance provisions, and packaging data for the Periscopes: M44A1E1 and M44A2E1. The periscopes provide a unity-power viewing system and a nine power passive (low light level) sighting system. The periscopes are equipped with a reticle projector which projects the image of a reticle pattern into the sighting system.
intended Use:
The Tank Periscopes: M44A1E1 and M44A2E1 are intended for use as the gunner's sighting and observation system in the Armored Reconnaissance Airborne Assault Vehicle: M551.
